Arrivals
Airport Pick Up
What To Expect
On arrival day, you will be met at the Florence (FLR) airport upon arrival between 9am and 2:30pm, and you’ll take a transfer to your housing. Once you exit the baggage area, our staff will be wearing orange t-shirts and holding a sign for CIS Abroad pick-up.
NOTE: You will see FUA staff members with FUA signs for pickup, but you will be picked up by CIS Abroad. If you accidentally walk over to the FUA staff, they will direct you to CIS Abroad staff. Please note that the FUA is charging 60 euros for their airport pickup so you want to be sure to go with CIS Abroad.
If you don’t see us right away, keep looking around. If you still don’t see us, message Romina (+39 3519259773 and Martina (+39 3485352882) on Whatsapp. There’s free WiFi in the Florence Airport.
WHAT TO DO IF: The unexpected happens
YOU MISS A FLIGHT OR HAVE A DELAY
If you miss your flight or a connection, do not panic! First, go to the ticket counter for the airline that issued your ticket to make the next available flight arrangements.
If you miss a flight on the US side, please contact US CIS Abroad emergency number: +1 413 210 7091, and email a new itinerary to emergency@cisabroad.com.
If there is a flight delay on the European side, please send the new flight information to What’s App +39 3519259773. Ensure that they have received your message and have responded to it.
If your flight is delayed significantly, there’s a chance we cannot meet you at the airport. If that’s the case, make sure you know the backup plan. From Florence airport, you’ll just want to grab a taxi to your housing. If checking in to TSH, someone will assist you at the Front Desk. If checking into an apartment, and arriving by 9pm, please What’s App Romina/Martina and they will assist. If later than this, please get in contact with Romina/Martina before 9pm who will give you instructions on how to check-in. We may ask roommates to let you in or there may be an extra charge for late check-in. Remember to let the on site staff know when you’re arriving and when you expect to get to your housing.
YOUR LUGGAGE GETS LOST
If the airline has misplaced your luggage, you must first file a lost baggage report with the airline before exiting customs. Once you have done this, you should exit the customs area and look for CIS Abroad staff at the arrivals gate. You must complete the lost baggage report before exiting customs.
Depending on where you are staying, your luggage should be delivered to:

Arriving outside the pick up window?
If you’re arriving outside the pick-up window, you’ll be responsible for your transportation and accommodation until the program start date.
Our suggestion is to take a cab from the airport. Exit the arrivals area, walk through the glass door and take a right. There are signs showing you the taxi stand, which is 1 minute away. We recommend taking the taxi with the number 0554390 on it, which is a white car with the blue “4390” sign. The price is approximately 25-30€ into Florence center. If there are no taxis at the taxi stand, you can call +390554390 or use the ITtaxi app.
Late Arrivals
If you arrive after 2:30pm on arrival day, What's App your site director to see if pickup staff is still there. If there is no staff, call the emergency phone to let us know that you have landed. We will provide you with information on how to take transportation to your accommodations so you can meet up with the group.
